Your mom taps one big button in the morning. You and your brother both see it — and if the tap doesn't come, you're the first to know. No sensors, no call center, no guessing.
Works on any phone or tablet they already own.
You call at lunch and she doesn't pick up. She's probably in the garden. Probably. Meanwhile your sister already called this morning, and neither of you knows whether she took her tablets.
It makes her feel watched, and it still only tells you about one moment in the day.
Three people asking the same questions, and no shared record of what the doctor actually said.
Monitored medical-alert pendants run $30–60 a month and most people never press them.
Nothing to install on her phone. No account for her to remember.
Sign up, add the person you look after, and set the time you'd expect to hear from them.
Open Lantern on her phone or tablet, type the 6-character code you read her over the phone. Done — one big screen, nothing else.
Invite your siblings. You all see the same timeline and all get the same alerts.
A single enormous button: I'm okay today. If it isn't tapped by your chosen time, everyone in the circle is alerted.
One press notifies every family member at once, with a note of what's wrong.
Her device reminds her at each dose time. You see what was taken — and what wasn't.
Check-ins, doses, help presses and your own notes, in one place every sibling can read.
For anyone whose speech is affected by a stroke or illness, tapping a phrase makes the device say it out loud.
Notifications on your phone, plus email for anything urgent — to every sibling, not just whoever set it up.
We'd rather tell you this up front than have you find out at the worst moment.
Lantern is not a medical alert service and not a substitute for calling emergency services.
There is no 24/7 monitoring center and nobody is watching a screen on your behalf. Lantern alerts your family — it cannot dispatch an ambulance. It relies on her device being charged and connected, and on notifications getting through, neither of which anyone can guarantee.
If the person you care for is at real risk of a fall or medical emergency while alone, please use a monitored pendant alarm as well. Lantern is for the ordinary, daily question — is she alright today, and are we all on the same page? — which is the part nothing else handles well.

No. Her screen has one big button on it and nothing else to get wrong — no menus, no login, no password. You type a 6-character code in once during setup and she never sees it again.
That's the point — you get told. If nothing has happened by your chosen time (plus a grace period you set), everyone in the circle gets an alert. Taking a medication or pressing anything else also counts as activity, so she doesn't get flagged for a day she was clearly up and about.
No, and please don't rely on it as one. It has no sensors and no monitoring center. The help button tells your family, not an ambulance service. If she's at genuine risk of falling while alone, get a monitored pendant as well — they do a different job.
Only the people you invite to the circle. We don't sell data, run ads, or share anything with third parties for marketing. The full detail is in our privacy policy.
Nothing is deleted. You drop back to free limits — check-ins and the help button keep working, and you can still read everything, you just see the most recent 7 days at a time until you upgrade again.
Yes. Everything runs on your own device's clock and timezone, so a daughter in Toronto and a mother in Delhi both see the right times. Prices are shown and charged in US dollars.
